Walking and talking…..

Tuesday 19th August 2014

Having found a safe place to rest, we are keen to stay for a few days. This cala has so much to see and explore so we have decided to do just that for the next couple of days. Slowly, it has become one of our favourite places ….the anchorage is safe…for now, the sea is warm and teeming with life, the cliffs offer fantastic views and Portinax, next door, is just a short walk away enabling us to keep our supplies stocked up.

Here are the last few days in pictures….

Boats are coming and going all the time…huge super yachts cruise past on their way back to Palma, singling the end of summer…for some... but we have had the pleasure of making new friends.

Marcel, his wife and guests arrived and anchored next to us yesterday and today we were invited aboard their boat, Jenny, for coffee and cake.

Marcel and his wife spend 6 months of the year aboard their boat and 6 months at home in France. One of the great things about travelling…as we have said before is making new friends and hearing their stories….it's always so inspiring, and  we love the fact that almost everywhere we go we make friends…who we will one day meet again…we hope!

Wednesday….

It was another cloudy, stormy looking day today so we decided, after a walk into Portinax , to walk the other headland and take a peek into the next cala along….

Thursday...

It was a quiet day for us today, except for meeting this delightful family….

Javier and Zoe visited us yesterday as they were interested in Windekind and wanted to say Hello. We had chatted over the water a couple of times when we had passed each other anchoring in various places in this cala over the last couple of days...

We had an invite to visit them today…which we did...

Thursday 21st August 2014…continued…...

Having spent a lovely morning with Javier and his family we decided that it was time to leave this beautiful safe place and move on with our journey. The North coast of Ibiza is absolutely stunning...There are not many places to stay safely, but the scenery on the way is just amazing. Today we were not really going that far...only to San Miguel. This is a large bay with Binnaris to one side...often more protected from the weather so can be busier, and San Miguel to the other. We anchored at the head of a small cala...tucked away inside the bay. The waves were a little roly so we put out a stern anchor too...this was a great move by BT...I’m sure we had the best night of all the boats anchored....to substantiate this point, most of the other yachts were gone when we awoke early the next morning!

Unfortunately, we were put off swimming in the cala when BT spotted a rather awesome looking jellyfish..photos coming soon! So, instead, we settled in for the evening...watching the comings and goings of other ‘boaties’!

  2. Hi Anna, It's so lovely to hear from you and hope you are well. Glad you like the blog. As you can see we are enjoying time on Windekind. We often think of you and hear little bits of news. It was so lovely to see Pilar and the family, we had such a great time with them. We will be returning to Port Ginesta in Windekind sometime in September.
We send you lots of love and hope to see you soon.

  3. Hi Simon and Yvonne!!!
We have delayed our answer but better later than ever!! Reading the blog it seems that you have crossed already to the main land and probably you are now back in Barcelona. We hope everything was ok at sea. Where are you now? On the road? What about the van? Don't forget to tell us when you arrive to Valencia, we hope to see you in our city.
Here things are back to routine... the girls at school and parents at work. Missing Ibiza already. In the meantime trying to start new projects to make life funnier and profitable!
Lila used the underwater picture you made for her "summer school diary" . She enjoyed telling about her adventures to the rest of the class.
We hope your adventure keeps on as you expected (or better). Keep in touch and see you soon xxxxxxx
