10th October 2014
Morning has broken......and an autumny one at that. A heavy dew lay across the grass covering the meadow with tiny water droplets all shining like crystals dripping from a chandelier....
The leaves lay in drifts on the ground making golden paths reflecting the warm glow of the sun....
Wild mushrooms grew in abundance, poking their creamy white heads out, stretching in the warmth of the morning...
...we even saw a fairy ring....
Bright jewel colours of autumn ....
Delicate lace webs highlighted for a moment...
Spidery strings dripping with diamonds....

...and Bluebelle...with her very happy and contented occupants...
There were even flowers in the meadow....
It was here that we sat and wrote a very short poem about our surroundings....
Our four line poem...
A Moment In Time
Sunlight dances on the water
Dewdrops sparkle across the grass
Webs of silk so perfectly woven
Shimmering reflections delight our hearts
We aren't poets, but I hope that gives you a feeling of the wonderful space we find ourselves in this morning....
Contemplating our poem....
We stayed a long while drinking in the sounds and smells, being wooed by the gentle rippling of the water and amazed at the beauty around us. It was with much reluctance that we eventually dragged ourselves away, climbing higher into the hills, crossing the border back into Spain, setting our watches an hour forwards again and partaking of a little horse chestnut scrumping....the trees are absolutely bulging with them here....
Living up to his name...BIG Trouble...scrumping!

Absolutely awesome views across the mountains...

We drove through many villages that looked like no one had cared for them in years...yet, there were people milling about...heads popping out of window...usually when we'd seen a burgeoning apple tree that we wanted to scrump!!!
Lunchtime view....we crossed over the river Tero and sat and ate our lunch with this beautiful 15th Century castle looming overhead
Trusty Tom Tom led us up the garden path...but today it was a bonus as it took us to another gorgeous hamlet...a dead end mind...and all of the 5 villagers were outside nattering...watching us pass through and then return a few minutes later...however...we wouldn't have missed it for the world...just look at these fantastic old church doors...
A jumble of flowers growing alongside the road
I'm afraid to say that I did make BT screech to a halt and back up so that I could take photos of these brilliant toadstools....
When I say screech to a halt, what I really mean is that we had to come to a VERY slow and gentle stop as we now have no brakes, and haven't had any for a week or two now!!! We hear metal on metal every time we have to brake..needless to say, BT's driving style has had to change to compensate...AND we try not to go anywhere where we may have a long ascent followed by a long descent!! I suppose I'm lucky he stopped for such a trivial thing such as photographing these little gems...but I think it was worth it!
We were intrigued by this little cluster of houses that had been left, for whatever reason, to rot and decay...but we thought they were beautiful nonetheless.
Higgledy, piggledy slate roof tiles....held together by the moss...
...just look at the colours...
Sunshiny leaves....
oooops...looks like we were rather taken with the rooftops...

The views across the mountain ranges today we so stunning....
...and another river for our overnight stop...
...just on the outskirts of La Robla
...and as the sun began to drift lazily southwards the trunks of the trees came alive showering the river with the most amazing reflections

Another treat at the end of a wonderful day...
