Today we decided that we would head back to Capestang for the market before heading off to Bezier and more cycling on the tow path. However, things, happily, didn’t go as planned! We popped by the barge to say ‘Good morning’ and top up our water... We were invited for a coffee and then also asked if we would like to stay for a BBQ lunch that they were having with some other friends. Well, there was no hesitation...a definite “yes please” from the two of us. We still popped over to the market...picked up some meat for the BBQ and then went back to the barge for lunch.

Alan and Sharon, who also live on a barge, turned up in their motorhome and proceeded to set up the BBQ. We spent a really lovely day with everyone...chatting, playing with Sophie, eating...far too much... and enjoying the glorious sunshine.

One of the things that we love about our travelling is the fact that, with no set plans each day, we can change things at the drop of a hat. When new opportunities open up and there is a fork in the road we can turn off and see where it leads. Well....a new opportunity opened up for us today...a most amazing, fantastic opportunity that we really couldn’t believe! We were asked if we would like to help John and Jane move their barge from the dry dock back to its home in Capestang...well....you can imagine Simons face can’t you????? What a treat!! I haven’t seen such a huge grin on his face for a long time!!! Before John had even finished asking, Simon was nodding furiously....too happy even to speak!!! Of course, it was a resounding “YES PLEASE” from the two of us. The only fly in the ointment was that the VNF...lock keepers...were planning a strike for tomorrow so it may not happen until Tuesday...still fine with us...we would wait as long as it took....BT is definitely not going to miss this event!
Just before we left for the evening, Jane found out that the strike is definitely on for tomorrow, so plans to move will have to be abandoned until Tuesday....no worries...there are plenty of things we can do to fill our day, and return on Tuesday for the big event!
