Being such a beautiful morning we decided to have a walk along the beach towards the town. We passed cute little boat houses, plenty of beach bars and lots of people having fun.

Somehow, we managed to end up in town, in a cafe with coffee and cake in front of us....how did that happen?

As we had walked in without shoes...it’s amazing how quickly you forget to take them with you...barefoot seems to be the way these days...we were unable to shop for supplies, so we wandered back to Windekind.

The sun was blisteringly hot today, so it was a huge relief to be able to shelter in the shade, swim with the fish and rest in the hammock......it’s the only thing to be done when it’s so hot!

Water is a very precious commodity on board so it gets used very sparingly. Today was a hair washing day for Billy (what a treat...no more cardboard hair!!!). The water was saved in a bucket and then recycled and used for clothes washing before being emptied on deck to give Windekind a wash down!

So, It was with a boat strewn with washing drying in the sun, sunshades galore adorning the back deck, a hammock slung from the boom, that a small boat appeared nearby. Very quickly it became clear that BT and Pilar ( the lady onboard) knew each other from a few years ago. Pilar’s brother, Alfonso, was a great friend of Simons and the previous owner of Windekind. Sadly, Alfonso died a few years ago but the legacy of his friendship lives on through the rest of the family. So, it was with great enthusiasm and excitement that we invited Pilar and her family, Toni, her husband and two boys, Alfonso and Fernando onboard.

The boys had tremendous fun exploring Windekind, jumping from the bow sprit and taking Mango tango out for a ride....but the highlight for them was to play with our waterproof camera taking photos of each other underwater.

We connected immediately, as if we’d all been friends for years. It was an amazing time together! As they prepared to leave we were very kindly invited to dinner with them on Friday night...we readily accepted and waved them off into the sunset.
