Today BT got stuck into a little bit of maintenance….we have planned to set aside some time in the future to give Windekind some much needed attention…but, in the meantime we have to keep up with little bits here and there…whenever we have the opportunity really. One of the jobs that does need doing is to replace this leather work….(sorry all you sailing people, BT is not with me as I write this so I can't give you the technical name for it!!!)! As you can see it's become very worn on one side. We have removed the leather completely…to bring home and make a new one…and replaced it with a makeshift job for now!

Just as the sun was beginning to descend towards the sea, we decided to go ashore and walk along the beach.
If you take a look at this map…..
https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=z-dZNZBHo3Vo.kUVDrr5wNi3U
…you will see where we anchored in Es Calo and the beach we returned to. Also, you can see that there is a small island called Espalmador at the end of Formentera…these two are only separated by a sand bar that many people walk across…its about chest height at it's deepest. Espalmador is a privately owned island….currently by an elderly brother and sister who were offered 100 million for it…the brother was keen to sell, but the sister refused!!! Who knows what it's future will be! But for now, it;s absolutely beautiful…clear water, golden sand and a mud bath!!!
Tonight we walked as far as the sandspit and back…as you can see it was full of amazing treasures and wonderful sculptures!

Good to see you're still having a great time! You're doing doing a grand blogging job - keep up the good work! Would love to know the significance of all these cairns - I thought they were a Scottish thing (only because cairn seems a Scottish-type word)? Dartmouth has been super-busy for the last couple of weeks - walking on the roads only! Two more weeks and peace and tranquility will return - except for the noisy seagulls! Front page Chronicle news - Regatta may not have a fair this year - gasp! Not holding my breath, but personally would be overjoyed if it didn't!! Lots of love xxx
ReplyDeleteHi Guys…so lovely to hear from you. Just recently we were both wondering how you both were. Once we are back off of the boat we'll try to have a proper catch up with you. Hope all is well. Lots of love from us two to you two… xxxxx
ReplyDeleteThose cairns look rather like something from an alien planet. Your photos are such a wonderful way to remember all the amazing things you have seen and experienced whilst you are away. Keep enjoying! I am wondering how on earth you are going to cope with mundane life back on earth when this adventure comes to an end? Love and hugs from us both. Dad & Mum xxxx
